Oxford, Connecticut: Midstate built one regulation football field and one regulation soccer field. The job consisted of screening 12,000 yards of topsoil, importing more than 18,000 yards of borrow, installing a drainage system below the fields, and installing sod over the entire two fields. The job had many environmental challenges as well as a very tight schedule. The job came in on time and on budget.
Storrs, Connecticut
Storrs, Connecticut: Midstate Site Development was awarded the contract in December 09 for the new social science classrooms at UCONN’s main campus. The new 96,000 sq. foot facility will be located in the heart of the campus. This necessitates the highest level of safety and precaution for both pedestrians and vehicle traffic. During this project, MSD has excavated thousands of yards of polluted and contaminated material to an off-site location. We value-engineered a support system for a main electrical duct bank that was discovered during the excavation, and this saved the customer thousands in sheeting costs. Despite extremely harsh 2010 weather conditions (rain ,snow, and sub-zero temperatures), the project is on time.
Enfield and Somers, Connecticut
Enfield and Somers, Connecticut: Midstate Site Development was low bidder on this Department of Public Works project. The project goals included: replacement of 16,230 feet of sewer main to all 5 prisons, decommissioning a wet well and pump station, installing a well house and new 8” watermain, installing a bridge over wetlands, reconstruction of the intersection at rt. 220 and rt. 404, and building a macerator building.
Bloomfield, Connecticut
Bloomfield, Connecticut: Midstate Site Development was the low bidder on these two separate projects slated for the summer of 2009. Both projects had to be started the day after school dismissed for summer break and be totally complete by the start of school in the fall. Midstate hit the job running with multiple crews. We made up to 8 sidewalk concrete pours per day, reclaimed multiple parking lots and main driveways, installed new sewer and water mains, site lighting, and landscaping. The project was done ahead of schedule and made for a smooth transition for teachers and students when they returned.
Bristol, Connecticut
Bristol, Connecticut: Midstate Site Development has been involved in projects at ESPN since 2001. Midstate is proud to be listed as one of ESPN -Walt Disney’s preferred contractors. We've been instrumental in the reconstruction of their main campus green and during that effort, we've maintained the highest quality of safety for ESPN employees and work force. We transformed their infrastructure laying miles of duct banks, drainage, raising grades 15 feet, paving walkways, installing thousands of feet of granite curb and an athletic field (seen on Sport’s Center).
West Hartford, Connecticut
West Hartford, Connecticut: Midstate Site Development was the site contractor chosen for the new NBC studios in West Hartford. There were some challenges we had to deal with before we put a shovel in the ground. The first thing we tackled was the demolition of the rear part of the existing studios, making room for the new studios. This had to be accomplished while they stayed on air. The next step was to blast 9,000 yards of ledge that was less than 12’ off the existing building - without shaking the camera’s and digital equipment. Finally, we had to re-route all the existing communication and electrical duct banks, plus tear down the existing studios - all without any interruptions to day-to-day operations. All of this was accomplished while NBC stayed on air twelve feet away throughout the project.
